Chris Pye: Woodcarving

Man of the Trees
by Mick Botten
Elm June 1999
Height: 10in. Width: 8in. Depth: 1in.

Author's Notes about the Carving.

This head was made for the treehouse of Chris's son Finian from a wormy old elm floorboard. It was left entirely untreated and the grey patina is simply the result of weathering.
The tree fell down last year and the carving rescued.

About the Carver.

Mick started carving in 1997 as a local student of Chris Pye. Some of his other work has appeared in Chris's books.

Would you like to contribute an interesting, contemporary, Green Man (gargoyles, grotesque etc) woodcarving?
Or have you a friend you could encourage to have their work shown?
Yes? Then I'd love to here from you!

Write to me, telling me a little about it first.
Thanks!
