Author's Notes about the Carving.

I needed a logo for my business (carving and furniture crafting) and was inspired by a green man when I saw a photo of a portion of a modified Bamberg Green Man. Given that my leanings are toward classical ornament and furniture design, this looked like the perfect thing to quickly convey the message to potential clients.

Though most carvings today are sanded, I have always liked the tooled finish.
I coated the piece with 1# shellac to seal it off, burnished it with a piece of a brown paper bag I had wrinkled and flattened until soft, then coated it with a light paste wax.

About the Carver.

I am an aspiring professional carver and furniture maker.
Though I have practiced joinery for about 20 years, it has only been in the last few years that I have worked diligently on carving.
In August, 1997, I retired as an investment banker in Tennessee and moved to Texas to start my furniture business full time. I was 37 when I made the switch, and am very satisfied with the decision.

Or have you a friend you could encourage to have their work shown?
Yes? Then I'd love to here from you!

Write to me, telling me a little about it first.
Thanks!
