Chris Pye: Woodcarving

Mystic Mahog
Richard Davies
Mahogany, 2006
Height: 40cm. Width: 19cm.

Author's Notes about the Carving.

This green man started out as two pieces laminated together. I carved it using mainly four different size gouges - I like textures these create - and then a Dremel.
I finished with teak oil

I have carved a few pieces in the past and always had my eye on carving a green man. To me carving in wood is a absorbing hobby where, once I start, time seems to become irrelevent. Retirement seems to help.

Would you like to contribute an interesting, contemporary, Green Man (gargoyles, grotesque etc) woodcarving?
Or have you a friend you could encourage to have their work shown?
Yes? Then I'd love to here from you!

Write to me, telling me a little about it first.
Thanks!
