Royal Wedding Rosebowl
Height: 5in (127mm), diameter: 9in (230mm).
Lacewood (London Plane) and silver.
I was very honoured to be asked by the Staff at Clarence House - the London residence of HRH The Prince of Wales - to design and make this breakfast table rosebowl. It was presented to commemmorate the wedding of TRH The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall on Saturday 9th April 2005.
There are three 'themes' in this bowl:
- Oak leaves and acorns with the silver dedication plate (seen here);
- Bramble leaves and berries with a little bird peeping out - which you can just see on the right (next);
- Ivy leaves with a bird's nest and eggs (next).
Additionally there are snails, beetles, butterflies and moths - all celebrating their Royal Highnesses' love of the countryside.
The bowl sits on a breakfast table and roses or perhaps wild flowers lie in the silver-meshed glass bowl.
